A.J. Metler Hauling & Rigging began operations in 1933. Specialty Transport, Inc. purchased the specialized business of A.J. Metler Hauling and Rigging in 2000, and became, Specialty Transport DBA A.J. Metler Hauling & Rigging. Today, for simplicity, we go by Metler.
Metler is an over the road specialized trucking company based in Knoxville Tennessee. We are a contract and common truck load carrier, with a long history of transporting freight for the Department of Energy. A large part of our freight runs in dedicated lanes between the southeastern and western states.
Metler focuses on value added freight on flatbeds, conestogas, single drops, as well as vans. Approximately half our freight requires hazardous material trained drivers. We are a small fleet operating with 25 trucks. This allows us to be very driver focused in everything we do. Our operations are typically planned weeks in advance. We utilize modern tools to assist in transporting our freight safely and efficiently for our customers.
